Garcinia Cambogia (standarized to 60% citrin HCA) 200mg the main ingredient in Slimex 15 Plus is a dietary supplement. First introduced to the health food industry in 1991, Citrin constituted the first all-natural plant extract based on hydroxycitric acid (or HCA). The extract is derived from the zest of the “Garcinia Cambogia” fruit (also known as the Brindall Berry), native to Southern India.
In the 1970’s, the international pharmacological company Hoffmann-LaRoche started to study HCA, in association with researchers of the Brandeis University in Boston, Massachusetts. They discovered that the (-)HCA form of HCA severely slows down the citrate lyase enzyme, which occurs mainly in the liver and partially prevents the production of fatty acids that tend to house in our body’s cells. Consequently, the liver creates less fat, and increased amounts of energy become available on a cellular level, aiding the elimination of fatty acids.
What’s more, (-)HCA suppresses your appetite. When consuming food, your body starts transforming carbohydrates into glucose (a type of sugar your body needs). It’s then the liver’s job to regulate the blood sugar levels so that the brain receives sufficient energy. Excesses of glucose molecules are usually transferred into fat or cholesterol. (-)HCA temporarily slows down the citrate lyase enzyme, and the excess of glucose is transformed to glycogen in the liver.
When the glucose and glycogen attain a certain level, the brain receives a signal that you’ve had enough to eat. The glycogen produced in the liver alerts the brain, stops your hunger, and suppresses any additional cravings your body might otherwise feel.
In 1990, Pharmacology PhD Muhammed Majeed stumbled onto the findings of the Brandeis University and Hoffmann-LaRoche. Being a South-Indian native himself, Majeed instantly recognized the potential of Garcinia Cambogia as a natural source of hydroxycitric acid. After a year of trial and error, he developed a patented process which involved stabilizing (-)HCA using calcium.
There are hundreds of types of Garcinia Cambogia, but Citrin is made only from the best fruits, grown in the green forests of West Ghats in Southern India. When the plants have reached the peak of their maturity, they produce a maximal amount of (-)HCA. In Southern India, the zest of the Garcinia Cambogia has been used for centuries to season and conserve food. There have been no reports of toxicity or side effects.
The original Citrin product contained 50% (-)HCA. In 1998, Sabinsa launched three new soluble salt forms of (–)HCA and in 2003, the company raised the bar again with a revolutionary new product containing 65% hydroxycitric acid, aptly called Citrin 65. This makes Citrin HCA the purest Garcinia Cambogia extract on the market compared to other supplements that contain only traces of the plant’s extract.
Chromium picolinate - 600mcg is a mineral that is used in the body for a number of reasons, but is only required in small amounts. There are two main types of chromium: trivalent chromium and hexavalent chromium. Trivalent chromium is the one that is found in food and is useful in the body. Hexavalent chromium is the toxic form that usually presents itself where there is industrial pollution.
More research needs to be done on the roles of chromium and on how exactly it is used in the body. What we do know already, is that it enhances the productivity of insulin in the body. Insulin is important to the metabolism and stores the macronutrients carbohydrate, fat, and protein, as was identified in 1959 in a study of the “glucose tolerance factor”. This is good news for people suffering from diabetes: because it affects insulin, patients with hypoglycemia could do with a high chromium intake in order to balance out their blood sugar levels.
Chromium provides a double effect on the metabolism, in that it is also directly related to the metabolism of the macronutrients. The mineral is a common ingredient in many food items, albeit in small amounts. It can be found in fruits, vegetables, whole grain products, spices and meat. Food types that are low on chromium include those that are high in fructose and sucrose. This plays an important role in the weight loss process, because by limiting foods that are low on chromium, it is possible to deter weight gain to some extent.
Agricultural processing and manufacturing widely affects the amount of chromium in our food, but the list of food types that you can eat if you want to boost your chromium levels in a natural way include broccoli, whole wheat, garlic, red wine and grape juice. Of course, you can also use Slimex 15 Plus to increase your chromium levels, because it contains 600mcg of chromium picolinate.
In order to maximize the beneficial characteristics of chromium though, it might be best to consume amounts as close to the upper limit as possible. While using the food types provided as a guide to enriching your diet with more chromium is one way to maintain your health, it is also useful to include a food supplement containing chromium in your eating habits, such as Slimex 15 Plus. You will find that in addition to the results you will experience regarding imbalanced blood sugar levels, cravings for sugar and alcohol will start to diminish.
Green Tea – 50mg Japan and China have been famous for their countless green tea variants for centuries. The benefits and positive traits of green tea have been proven scientifically, and it is no secret that in Asia, the beverage is believed to be one of the sources of longevity.
Because green tea does not ferment, all of its natural substances remain intact after the boiling process. The list of vitamins contained in green tea is too long to cite, but among others it contains all vitamins A through D, calcium, chromium, iron, selenium, and zinc. Green tea also contains several amino acids.
As we just mentioned, one of the ingredients of green tea is selenium. This substance is called an “antioxidant”, because it prevents damage to the cells in your body.
Japanese studies have shown that the powder derived from the dried leaves of green tea slows down the growth of fat tissue. Researchers tested the dried extract on rats. One test group was given a “diet” based on sugar (50%) and butter (15%). A second group was fed the same way, but given powdered green tea in addition. They found that the extract slowed down the weight increase, and that by adding additional vitamin C to the diet, the outcome was even more promising.
On top of that, another study conducted by the German Institute for Food Research in Potsdam has taught us that green tea is an apt weight loss product. Researchers found that a certain substance contained within the tea actually lowers body fat in mice. Not only does the ingredient suppress cravings, but it also slows down the food intake in the intestines, and it promotes fat burning.
The mice were put on a fat-rich diet, paired with green tea. After 29 days, their body weight was significantly lower than the mice that were not given any tea. Their fat percentage also decreased drastically. For the test, the scientists used a green tea extract, comprising of 94% EGCG, its active component.
Earlier studies have pointed out that green tea contains large quantities of polyphenols, that lower cholesterol and help to burn fat. EGCG is among these substances. Moreover, the hot beverage has anti-carcinogenic and anti-bacterial qualities. Green tea is said to soothe the nerves and also – thanks to the many antioxidants contained in the beverage – to slow down the aging process.
Green tea is the next big thing, thanks to its positive health and weight loss benefits, and a whole array of studies on the beverage is currently still ongoing. That’s why we opted to add it in as an ingredient in Slimex 15 Plus, which contains 50mg of green tea extract (52,4% EGCG).
L-carnitine - 75mg is a type of amino acid; not the kind of general amino acid that operates as a building block for bodily tissue, but rather one that plays an important part in the formation and the decomposition of fats in the liver.
Carnitine also acts as an antioxidant and can be found naturally in certain food types, particularly red meat and dairy products. Even the human body naturally produces carnitine in the kidneys, with the help of lysine, another amino acid.
What L-carnitine does, is transport fatty acids to the mytochondria – parts of the cells in our body responsible for energy production. This is especially important for the muscles in the human heart. Studies have shown that carnitine lowers cholesterol and improves heart function in patients with a weak heart. In fact, L-carnitine has been proven to be beneficial for people who have recently suffered a myocardial infarction.
When asked about the benefits of L-carnitine, many people with heart conditions have reported the supplement to give them extra energy and takes away their shortness of breath after a physical effort. L-carnitine also stops their palpitations and helps them to lose weight by eliminating fat and water from their bodies.
Carnitine is a substance in your body that decreases with age. It plays a role in delivering energy to the brain and it protects brain cells when they don’t receive enough oxygen. This is why carnitine is used to improve brain capacity, and some forms of carnitine are even used in treatments for Alzheimer’s.
There is much debate as to whether L-carnitine promotes weight loss or not. Scientists have reached a consensus in that carnitine speeds up the metabolism, but whether the process of transforming fatty acids into energy also promotes weight loss, is another matter.
One study that sheds more light on this theory was performed by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2007, which found that L-carnitite lowers fat mass and increases muscle mass simultaneously, while helping with feelings of fatigue as well.
Another study, issued by the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, pointed out that carnitite helps in recovering muscle stress and stiffness after intensive workouts or runs. It also prolongs stamina and improves the effectiveness of testosterone. Fifty percent of patients that participated in the study showed immediate progress after consuming just a single dose, allowing them to run farther lengths without becoming tired or experiencing soreness in the muscles.
Niacine - 16mg a white, crystalline, water-soluble vitamin of the B complex, usually occurring in various plant and animal tissues as nicotinamide. It functions as a coenzyme necessary for the breakdown and use of all major nutrients and is essential for a healthy skin, normal functioning of the GI tract, maintenance of the nervous system, and synthesis of the sex hormones. It may be used therapeutically to help reduce high blood cholesterol levels. Rich dietary sources of both niacin and its precursor tryptophan are meats, poultry, fish, liver, kidney, eggs, nuts, peanut butter, brewer's yeast, and wheat germ. Symptoms of deficiency include muscular weakness, general fatigue, loss of appetite, various skin eruptions, halitosis, stomatitis, insomnia, irritability, nausea, vomiting, recurring headaches, tender gums, tension, and depression. Severe deficiency results in pellagra. The vitamin is not stored in the body, and daily sources are needed. Niacin toxicity is associated with large doses of nicotinic acid (may occur with a dose as low as 50 to 100 mg). Symptoms include flushing, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and alteration of glucose tolerance. Overdose can also exacerbate preexisting conditions such as cardiac arrhythmias and abnormal liver function. Also called nicotinic acid.
Vitamin B6 - 7mg (scientific name: pyridoxine) is one of the essential vitamins that are not created or stored by the body. The main objective of this vitamin is to contribute to the production of red blood cells. It also plays a role in a number of vital body functions – more than any other vitamin. In addition, it still has a whole range of advantages what weight loss.
Vitamin B6 is water-soluble and necessary for the release of energy from the food we eat. Because the vitamin is not in our body can be saved, we must consume by an appropriate amount of food intake or through supplements. Vitamin B6 is an ingredient that is common in different food types, so it will be easy to integrate it into your diet. It sits among other things in nuts, seeds, fish, carrots, meat, brown rice, eggs, bread, potatoes, avocados and bananas.
Pyridoxine is a Coenzyme and plays a role in the processing of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It helps in the production of red blood cells, but is also an essential element in the production of certain hormones, enzymes, neurotransmitters and prostaglandins. Vitamin B6 is partly responsible for the action of serotonin – the neurotransmitter in the brain that is responsible for the provision of mind, sleep patterns, appetite and pain sensitivity. In exceptional cases, a shortage of B6 lead to impaired functioning of the central nervous system and to insomnia.
Vitamin B6 contributes to weight loss, on both physical and mental level. Because it helps regulate appetite, it can be used as an ingredient in weight loss products. In addition, accelerates B6 metabolism and helps burn calories more efficiently. Pyridoxine has a positive effect on your state of mind, and that too will your motivation regarding your weight loss goals.
In addition to weight loss may protect your heart by vitamin B6 the piling up of cholesterol and to prevent the formation of kidney stones. It can help you build a healthy immune system and people who take vitamin B6 as supplement, are full of praise for other positive effects, such as treating carpal tunnel syndrome, premenstruaal syndrome, nocturnal leg cramps, morning sickness, arthritis and many other ailments.
Slimex 15 Plus contains 7 mg vitamin B6, which is more than enough to be able to enjoy the benefits of B6.
Black Pepper - 7.5mg is a proprietary name for a supplement based on piperine, a pure extract that is extracted from black peppers, grown in the moist, fertile soil of South India. Extract of black pepper is often used in Indian recipes, but also in traditional Indian medicine.
The special pepper fruits are harvested by hand, just before they reach their full maturity. They are then dried in the Sun so the ripening process can be carried out and the optimal quality is highest. Both the piperine extract in black pepper as its subtle yet powerful effects have been the subject of detailed clinical examination in the United States.
These studies were performed on healthy volunteers, and the rate of absorption of three different categories of products were measured: provitamin A – that is soluble in fat, vitamin B6 – that is soluble in water, and selenium – a mineral.
Scientists examined all these nutritional supplements related to their absorption through the intestinal wall, through the levels in the blood. The rate of absorption increased sensitive when the supplements were combined with black pepper, compared to a placebo group that only nutritional supplements.
The levels of selenium rose by 30%, and provitamin A and vitamin B6 both with 60%, based on the addition of black pepper 15 mg per dose.
The human metabolism that is responsible for creating energy in our body, is called Thermogenesis. Because piperine – as black pepper in the patented form – the thermogenetische activity strengthens already in our body is present, it is classified as a so-called "thermo nutrient".
Thermogenesis not only plays an important role in the weight loss process, it also supports our body in the responsible handling with the food and nutrients we consume on a daily basis. It puts a mechanism that guarantees a healthy digestive system, as well as a good absorption of the nutrients in the intestinal wall.
It is wrong to believe that increased consumption of a certain nutrient greater inclusion in your body. It has been proven that excessive intake of certain nutritional supplements the benefits and the absorption of other supplements correct.
Black pepper is an exceptional, unique product that if only a patent obtained in connection with the ability to increase the absorption rate of food supplements. In addition, it was the only source of piperine that clinical examination in the United States was beneficial qualities and safety in relation to other supplements. Slimex 15 Plus contains 7.5 mg black pepper.
Zinkcitraat dihydraat - 16mg Zinc is an amazing mineral which can be found in a large variety of foods: particularly meats, seafood and nuts. Slimex 15 Plus contains 16mg of zinc, which constitutes 52% of the recommended daily amount. The main purpose of zinc in the body is to ensure the proper function of the immune system, as well as to stimulate enzymatic reactions. It is also used for wound healing and is responsible for the perceptive qualities of sensory stimuli. Lately, there have been schools of thought to suggest that it is also useful for weight loss – more on this in a minute.
Zinc is a trace mineral, essential to the functions of the human body. Every cell in the human body contains some amount of zinc. It is known to have a number of benefits besides the functions that we mentioned above. One of these is that it provides the body with proper thyroid and insulin functioning. It also acts as an antioxidant, which means that it helps in slowing down the aging process, preventing and reversing damage caused by free radicals and preventing or slowing the occurrence of certain types of cancers and heart disease.
Since all of our cells contain zinc, it’s not necessary to ingest large amount of zinc on a daily basis. By eating right and by consuming a variety of foods in the appropriate proportions, you can go a long way. In addition, you can further benefit from using a multivitamin supplement such as Slimex 15 Plus, which will protect your body with more than adequate amounts of zinc.
Because zinc is so readily available in the foods we eat, a deficiency is very rare. Those who tend to suffer from lower levels of zinc include alcoholics, the elderly, anorexics, and people on restricted diets. Zinc deficiencies are also found in people with celiac disease or Crohn’s disease and have trouble with the absorption of minerals. The symptoms that these individuals may suffer from, include a diminished sense of taste and smell, a decrease in appetite and unwanted weight loss.
However, an adequate intake of zinc can actually help you to lose weight in a healthy fashion. The mineral is known to boost the thyroid’s functions, which makes it easier to burn fat by speeding up the metabolism.
A study was conducted and reported in the Journal of Nutrition in 1986, in which participants were given different amounts of zinc for a set period of time. The study revealed that subjects who were given the least amount of zinc demonstrated a decrease in their metabolic rate and thus did not burn as many calories as the individuals who were administered increased amounts of zinc over the same time span.
